The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is inviting residents across the state to help shape the future of transportation by sharing their priorities for the next State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), which will guide transportation investments from 2028–2037.
Throughout the month of July, North Carolinians have the opportunity to provide feedback on the transportation projects they believe are most important in their communities. Whether your priorities include safer streets, better sidewalks, expanded bicycle infrastructure, improved transit, or roadway improvements, your input can help inform local transportation decisions.
NCDOT is collecting comments through an interactive online prioritization map, where you can identify projects that matter most to you. The department is also hosting public open houses across the state, giving community members a chance to speak directly with local NCDOT staff, ask questions, and learn more about proposed transportation projects in their area.
Public input is a critical part of the STIP development process. While some transportation projects are selected using data-driven criteria, community feedback plays a significant role in how regional and local projects are prioritized for funding.
Now is the time to make your voice heard. By participating this July, you can help ensure future transportation investments reflect the needs and priorities of your community.
