On June 13–14, BikeWalk NC Executive Director Terry Lansdell served on a panel of experts for the Vision Zero Leadership Team Institute.
This event, hosted by NC Vision Zero and UNC-Chapel Hill, provided multi-sector teams with best practice tools and approaches to help them move toward effective Vision Zero planning and implementation. Sessions were tailored to meet the needs of communities and gave teams the chance to work together to develop a firm Vision Zero foundation and concrete action steps, relevant to their current situation. The Institute served as an opportunity for Vision Zero communities to take a deeper dive into working through complex problems.
The panel on which Terry served was “Quick Build Projects: Examples and Lessons From the Field.” For this topic Terry focused his presentation on the Slow Streets program implemented in Charlotte, the success of BikeWalk NC in developing Traffic Gardens, and how other organizations and municipalities may approach similar projects.
