As part of the 2025 NC BikeWalk Transportation Summit in Hickory, BikeWalk NC will offer Traffic Bicycling for Transportation Professionals on Tuesday, September 9, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The class will be held at Hickory Parks and Recreation, 1451 8th St Dr NE, Hickory, NC 28601, and taught by Master LCI Instructor Steven Goodridge.
This intensive 9-hour course is designed for transportation engineers, planners, and law enforcement, but is open to all adults. Participants will learn best practices for bicycle operation in urban traffic, improve their bike handling skills, and build confidence in traffic negotiation techniques. The course examines common bicyclist crash types in the context of operator behavior and explores implications for transportation planning, facility design, and law enforcement.
Students who complete the training will receive League of American Bicyclists Smart Cycling certification, which is the prerequisite for becoming a League Cycling Instructor (LCI). This course consistently receives excellent feedback from Summit participants. (AICP credits for planners pending approval.)
The class is available at a special Summit rate of $50 and can be added during your Summit registration. Space is limited, so register today to secure your spot.
