Wes Kessenich was an avid runner, cyclist, triathlete and fitness enthusiast who was always up for a challenge. He worked at Charlotte Running Company and was a loyal supporter of friends and family in their fitness endeavors. It brought him joy to watch others pursue challenges and reach their goals.
Sadly, Wes was lost too soon to a car crash last year while riding his bike one morning in May. To honor Wes, his family and Start2Finish Event Management have chosen BikeWalk NC as the beneficiary of the fundraising efforts of several upcoming events as a way to celebrate his passions, support bike and road safety, and to help prevent future bike tragedies. If you would like to honor a loved one in your life with a donation, or simply want to help BikeWalk NC’s efforts to make North Carolina Streets safer for those walking, biking, and rolling with active transportation, please reach out to Terry Lansdell at director@bikewalknc.org.
The two events that have been designated for these fundraising efforts are Run the South Half Marathon, 10k, & 5k on June 10th, as well as the Walk the South 4-Week Virtual Challenge taking place between May 14th and June 10th.
Run the South features a race course that is FAST AND FLAT through shaded greenways, post race food and drink, high-energy music, as well as outstanding giveaways for all participants. The Walk The South Virtual Challenge is designed to help participants increase their physical activity and explore their neighborhoods. Whether walking outdoors or indoors, alone or with friends, participants can log their daily miles and track their progress.
