The 2020 NC BikeWalk Summit will be held virtually Thursday and Friday, November 5 and 6, with a social gathering/cargo bike and e-bike Q&A on November 4.
We are very excited about the program we have planned for you, and the opportunities that having an online summit bring to the table. We hope that wherever you are located, in North Carolina or beyond, you will make plans to join us on November 5th and 6th for two full days packed with information and interaction, as well as for some socializing on November 4 (a good way to unwind after what is sure to be a chaotic Election Day)! We have great keynotes, wonderful panel discussions, an “in the weeds” section for those who love data, and some fun social gatherings.
This year’s focus will be on inclusive transportation and how transportation decisions affect those who cannot or do not want to be car dependent.
How can we make travel safe and inclusive of everyone? How can we best promote infrastructure and transportation that equally serves the economically disadvantaged, those with physical disabilities, the elderly, the infirm, those who live outside the urban core? How do we get the right people to the table to weigh in on decisions that will affect them? How do we make our streets safe for people regardless of the color of their skin? Also, given the extraordinary changes in roadway usage that we have witnessed during the spring of 2020, how should we revise how we look at transportation?
Registration is now open, and your registration fee of $50 ($15 for enrolled students) includes a one-year membership to BikeWalk NC. We know that there are many summits and conferences that are being offered free at this time, but unfortunately, the pandemic has hit nonprofits and their ability to raise funds even harder than it has hit some of the other sectors. BikeWalk NC works hard for safer roads for all users, and your registration fee will help us continue our work. And if you can’t make it to some of the sessions, they will all be available to registrants after the Summit. We have also applied for CEUs for planners.
