ACTION ALERT/Statewide bike-ped funding deadline >
We have until this Friday, Feb. 21 to let our collective voices be heard ! BikeWalk NC (formerly North Carolina Active Transportation Alliance) has been told the new deadline for public comment on statewide funding for all future transportation projects is February 21, having been postponed due to last week’s winter storm.
The BikeWalk NC Board urges you to speak up on bike-ped funding even though the situation looks grim. Win or lose, it is crucial that you contact (1) NCDOT Division staff. If you have time, send a cc to your (2) MPO and a cc. to your representative on the (3) your region’s member on the (3) Board of NCDOT, and let them know that you know how serious this situation is. Rather than taking the time to research which bike-ped projects are being considered in your region, or sort out a bunch of complicated formulas, we suggest you voice your “dismay that all future Federal-State matching funds for local bike-ped projects are being terminated”. You can also list your pet project(s) that you think deserve funding.
Speak up before it’s too late !

Thank you and good luck !
